Veteran Ghanaian actor Prince Yawson, often known as Waakye, has passed away.
Actor Ekow Blankson confirmed the death of his colleague, telling GhanaWeb that the late actor was sent to the 37 Military hospital on August 1, 2022, but there were no beds available due to a slight stroke.
He continued by saying that he was able to obtain them a bed for the actor thanks to the help of a person they knew at 37 Military Hospital.
“I was informed that Waakye was sent to the hospital yesterday after experiencing a small stroke, but there were no beds available when she arrived. After some time, he was able to find a bed thanks to one of the “Obra” guys who works at the hospital. Unfortunately, it was confirmed that he passed away at 4 PM today,” Mr. Blankson told GhanaWeb.
A number of famous people and colleagues in the film industry, including Andy Dosty, Dada Hafco, and Ahmed Banda, have also verified his passing on social media.
Waakye, who passed away at the age of 52, appeared in a number of well-known Ghanaian films.
He received another honour in 2021 when he received his ministerial ordination as a Reverend.
