KNUST to suspend final-year student over alleged rape case

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has started procedures to suspend a final year student over alleged rape case.

The final-year Business Administration student is currently standing trial for allegedly raping a first year female student of the university.

Recall that reported early on that a final year student of the Kumasi-based institution and his accomplice, a police officer had raped a first year student, and had been locked up behind bars.

Joel Osei Owusu and his accomplice, L/Cpl Frank Adu Poku are currently standing trial for committing the said act on July 19, 2022.

The police officer who is stationed at Bomso, a community that shares boundary with the school, has since been interdicted.

“You know the police administration will not shield anybody who tries to bring the name of the Police Service into disrepute.

“Our image is very, very important to us so anybody who finds himself in an issue of this sort, the administration will quickly take action on it, and then the police administration did that by interdicting the officer,” ACP Kofi Blagodzi, the head of legal and prosecutions remarked.

In the Ashanti Region, a Police officer And a L400 student have allegedly raped a KNUST student.

A female student at Bomso has reportedly been gang-raped by a police officer and a Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) final year student.

According to information made accessible to, the two suspects allegedly lured the girl into an off-campus hostel in Bomso, where they then allegedly pounced on her, turned her into a sexual object, and videotaped the entire ordeal.

One of the two suspects has been identified as Frank Adu Poku, and the incident is alleged to have occurred on Wednesday, July 20. He is being held in police custody together with the final-year student.

6 KNUST Students Remanded Over Rape Case. Six (6) students of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have been remanded in custody on Wednesday after being charged with rape.

The alleged victim was a first-year student. Asokore Mampong District Court has arraigned the suspects in this case.

This is the second time a rape case has been reported has been reported headlining KNUST. Three weeks ago, another event of this type occurred on the KNUST campus.
